“This was an amazing experience to be on the other end of a scare for once. The staff are so welcoming, helpful, and appreciative. It was a great way to team build and make new friends!” - Ally, with Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity, BGSU
“The Distracted Haunted House is a fun and rare volunteer opportunity. I have been going the past 3 years and absolutely love it!!! My favorite part of volunteering is meeting new people and giving back to the community in a unique way! It was one of the most noteworthy volunteering experiences I have had!” - KJ, with Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity, BGSU

Age Requirement?
Yes, we do require adults and/or older teens to make up the majority of your volunteer group.
We do have some flexibility to allow younger children to volunteer in addition to their
parent/guardian that would be volunteering as well.
Dates?
What if I am shy, don’t feel like I can scare, or have no acting experience?
Don’t worry, people come to the haunted house ready to be scared, and we place volunteers in
positions and costumes to easily scare someone. Some people are a little nervous at first but
quickly pick up on scaring and are easily able to scare others. We use many different styles and
techniques to scare people and we’ll find the one that fits your personality best. We also have
experienced actors who regularly encourage and assist volunteers in their new roles at the
haunted house so we can help you become a monster and have fun!
Will I be placed in a room by myself?
No. New volunteers work together within a scare zone with other actors, and are not left alone
by themselves during the show. You will be paired off with someone that you can partner well
with to help us deliver a great show.
Is volunteering safe?
Yes, we work very hard and comply with all safety requirements from both building and fire
inspectors. We have invested heavily in special mechanical systems to keep everyone safe in case
of an emergency. We also have security onsite at all times we are open for business. During our
shows, no patron is allowed to touch an actor and no actor may touch a patron.
